In September of 2022, I began teaching the first of my metalsmithing students in Bhutan. The session was incredibly successful, but it became immediately apparent that we were in need of major resources to truly harness the great potential of our Bhutanese students. In response, we created a 501(c)(3) to help gather and manage the outside funding required to continue our mission. The Bhutan School of Metalsmithing Arts is a Utah-based non-profit dedicated to teaching the metalsmithing trade to aspiring young Bhutanese students, so they may spread their nation's message of love beyond their borders.
There is an endless need for aid both at home, and globally. I truly believe the Bhutanese respect for life, for biodiversity, for the climate, and for our Earth needs to be heard by all of us. It is a small country with an even smaller population, but their profoundly infectious goodness abounds. Their art can become a vehicle to spread this message of love to a world that dearly needs it.
There is so much more to say about the Kingdom of Bhutan, the program, and the students. For now however, please have a look at our website to learn more about The Bhutan School of Metalsmithing Arts, 501(c)(3): https://bhutanschool.org
